Cayenne Alignment Question
Hi guys I know this is the wrong forum but this is the best one to get answers in everyone here is very knowlegeable so here it is. I just took my Cayenne to the local Firestone for an alignment the guy at the counter said he cannot align it because there are special weights required and only the dealer has them. Is he correct in what he told me? If so what are the weights for? The dealer wants $325 to align it seems like alot to spend for an easy job. Thanks

Im not sure but there is a special flange plate thats used on Cayenne Wheels when during alignment. These however wouldn´t necessarily be specific to a porsche dealers and a good shop should have them. Have you tried calling any other shops?

Not sure if i would trust any of my vehicles to a local Firestone ...
Best bet is to go to an alignment shop, although most likely more expensive at least you will know the job is done properly ! Cheers ! Phil

He's correct. I've seen mine on the alignment rack and it's a corner balanced alignment. The "weights" appear to be sand bags visually. Beyond that they also need a PSWIS to set the suspension in a mode to align it. At least for mine where it has the adjustable ride height.

Scott I do not have the adjustable ride height so if that is why they need the weights I guess it can be aligned at any shop who knows what they are doing if that is the reason for the weights

The weights were just for the corner balance, needing the PSWIS was for setting the suspension. I think you need the weights to do it correctly regardless of the suspension, but I really don't know.
Tire shops in my area won't touch a p-car normally, but we have indies that have Bosch racks that will. I'm actually not sure I would want my local firestone to work on my Cayenne.
