i need a 98mm ring set, uncommon thickness

i'm looking for a set of factory mahle rings for a 3.2 big bore kit to fit a 3.0. the pistons are mahle 98mm max moritz wedge style, and the ring thicknesses are 1.2mm, 1.2mm and 3mm. pete at andial should have some in early february, but i could use them sooner. jerry woods, ebs racing, ssf, supertech, no luck. anyone have some or know where to look? not too big on using other brands like j&e, hastings, etc.

John,

I had a custom set made by Total Seal for my 98mm Mahle RSR pistons. Turn around time was just a few days. They will need land thickness and cylinder bore measurements. They came with the end gap preset (and correct) to my specs. Two years now and they are running well.

Cory,

The cost is not really any different that a stock set of rings. Give them a call.

what i ended up doing was getting a set of 98mm X 1.5/1.5/3mm from EBS racing and had my friend jeff hines cut the ring grooves to fit. seems that 1.2 thickness is not readily available. turns out they were goetze too!

I called a machine shop and was told a piston manufacturer would have to do it. Luckily, Don from EBS gets Total Seal to make conventional ones in this size. He actually had some in stock recently but I missed the last set. He said it would be a few days before they are made again.

he gets them from peter @ andial, who gets them from mahle. i waited six weeks for those with no end in sight and finally had to get creative, so good luck. i guess you need a better machinist.
