Pedal cluster spring?
Could someone in the know tell me exactly what year Porsche started using this helper spring. The parts catalog does not seem clear.

I can very well be wrong, but didn't the 2.4 get the 915 transmission? '74 was 2.7 liter. I'm also going way out there to guess that the spring/pedal went with the 915? I know, the limb that I'm on is starting to crack.......

The original 915 from ’72-’73 models did not have a helper spring.
The ’73 Carrera RS was the first with A spring. This is unique to ’73 Carrera RS 2.7. ![]() © 1972 Dr, Ing. h.c. F. Porsche A.G. For the 1974 model, Porsche reported: “To reduce the pedal force, the Model 74 vehicles have an additional clutch aid in the form of a tension spring attached to the clutch pedal. As the distance the pedal travels increases, the force necessary to depress it decreases. In addition, the vehicles are equipped with a longer brake pedal. The length of the lever arm is 250 mm (previously 232 mm), the pedal ratio, 5.8:1 (previously 5.4:1).” © 1973 Dr, Ing. h.c. F. Porsche A.G. From 4527.21. For the 1977 model, Porsche reported: “1977 models have an auxiliary spring on the transmission in addition to the clutch spring on the pedal assembly.” © 1976 Dr, Ing. h.c. F. Porsche A.G. From 4580.21. This is the ‘Omega’ spring we all love. Best, Grady

I know my memory is failing at my age,but I have never seen a set up that that on any 911. I just finished RS #193 and it didn't have that set up. My own RS #987 didn't either. Your thoughts. Did that illustration come from the parts book?

Rick,
Yes, Porsche Parts Catalog Type 911 Model 1972/1973, Plate 7/1, Supplement II, 9/72. Fig. #75-> for ”Carrera 2.7” (bold in the manual). I don’t recall seeing one either. The '73 RSR is much different with dual brake master cylinders. Best, Grady
