fuel return line

I have 82sc and my fuel return line has a leak. I have motor out and fuel tank out as well. I can not figure out how to get line out in one piece. I can cut it but getting new line in looks very difficult. the line goes from front of car through tunnel to rear. In front of car the line goes up and over steering rack, this is the problem. If anyone has done this I sure could use some advise.

thanks
lou

Take the rubber bushings out of both ends.

Just cut the old line right at the elbow at the steering rack.

Securely tape the new line to the old one. Then go the back, and start to pull it thru. You'll need to go back and forth on the creeper. Pull from the back. Go to the front give it a little twist and push. Back and forth. Pretty easy.

The HARRRD part is putting the bushing back in. It must be done right. Or you and car could become a flamer. Not Good....

Good Luck. Other than the bushing at the steering rack, pretty easy.

thanks for advice. I imagine that I slide front bushing onto new line and then snake through tunnel pulling old line from back of car, but how do I get new line over the steering rack. also, any advise on how to get bushings out.

thanks

I did the pressure line.

To put them in. I cut a slit in them. So I could put them on after the line was in. You could try it with it slipped on at first. But I don't think you'll have enough room.

My new line was made out out the black ( poly material ) fuel line. So it could bend a little. Only the ends were soild. Went pretty fast, maybe 1/2 hour taking my time.
