Engine compartment decals (80' sc)
I've seen this topic come up a few times in the past but most of these stickers are now MIA or at least NLA in Porsche lingo. We recently had my father's 80's sc engine out for a 4th gear replacement, valve adjustment and general cleanup. I took the time to clean and repaint the entire engine compartment. To do it right I removed these decals (of course not checking for availability first). Turns out Tweeks does carry a set for the 80' SC which is listed as $39 in the catalog but after placing my order I found that they raised the price to $56. The kit contains all of the stickers accept the fan strap and the tire pressure decal.
Two things: does anybody's US spec 80' SC have the fan strap decal? This car never had one (at least as long as my dad has had it). The decal I need is 911.006.512.12 I believe this decal came on later models all the way out to at least 86' Stoddard doesn't carry it, although they do have a 911.006.512.13 which I have no idea if it's the same or different. Like to hear from others with pics if possible. Here is a pic of tire pressure decal I need next to the lid latch: Thanks! Kenrinc PCA Zone7 GGR

There is someone that replicates them on his printer. You can customize them for your car. Don't have a link, sorry but should find him with a search.

You can still get new 90 % of all Porsche decals here thru Pelican or other places we cant spell.
I purchased the 911.006 512.12 for optional 16" tires from the "S" car company last year when Pelican couldn't get them I have a shiny new 911.006.512.14 for 15" tire if anyone is looking for one

Yeah for the 80's and newer cars I'd believe you can still get quite a bit but any earlier than that and it's no dice unless they are custom made. I have a 1968 911L and these had the rarest of all the stickers, gold with red borders. They are and have been NLA for decades. Roger Bray, the "S" store, and a few people "in the know" have not been able to produce for me. There are a few people reproducting them on printers but the samples that I've actually seen don't meet my very high standards. And in some cases, they are being sold as one thing, when they actually represent another. One guy who sells stickers on the web has a set for 68 and the stickers in his kit are actually for a later car and are the wrong color. I don't know why people buy that crap....
If I can tell they are reproductions, then I don't want them. Ken- Last edited by kenrinc; 02-11-2010 at 08:37 AM.. |

what the hell ?? if they are NLA they are NLA and doubtful that any one from the factory has a few sitting in a tool box ... so looks like two choices repop or none if the other repops are such crap then you just found the niche for your high standards, start making them ............ |

Oh gawd, this is hysterical :-) Here I am replying to a post I think is someone else's yet is my own from 7 years ago...... You gotta love it. That SC in the 1st post was taken care of with stickers that I found at S. Problem solved. Sorry, the two posts were referencing two different cars.
As for the 68', it is what is and at some point I may do just that... thanx Ken- |

I'm looking for engine compartment decals for my 79 EURO SC. Most of these sites are NLA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Here is a shop in Fla that does custom decals for old Boston Whalers. Boston Whaler actually sends customers to them.
I got transom and whaler stickers from here when I did my resto on my 1960 Whaler, they were spot on. Janice does great work. If you can get a good clean digital image of a fresh decal she may be able to make them for you. Obviously the first one would be the most expensive. Screen Printed and Vinyl Signs, Boat Lettering, Wraps, Banners, Decals, Magnetic Signs good luck and if anyone tries them out keep us posted. Tcar's link looks like a better deal as they are all set up, assume the quality is good?

I got a set from Ebay (guy in Germany) a couple years ago. Took about a week to get them. |

Thanks tcar, that's what I was looking for.
OK now I'm stumped. Looked at the decal under the shell sticker. It says...911SC 2.7 I thought all SC models were 3.0 Afterall wasn't a 3.0 what made it an SC!
