Colorado people...a drive this Sunday (11 March 2011)
Hey All,
Just wondering if there were any Colorado people heading out for a little Sunday drive since the weather looks like it will be nice. Just looking to find some new roads! |

I'm on the Front Range this weekend (unusual for me in the winter). I had a nice late afternoon spin around Boulder in the targa with the top off today. Probably still a lot of gravel on the roads I've hit with some of the Colo Coffee and Cars crew (119 to Nederland + Peak to Peak HWY) and there's a wildfiire north of Boulder that has closed some of the other canyon roads (at least for now).
What did you have in mind? A high speed traverse north along the mountains on the flats could be a fun. . . maybe Boulder to Lyons and back?

I would love to go up into some of the roads around boulder, if anyone wants to meet up around there somewhere. I'll be coming up from the springs so I'll probably take 105 to 85 then on over into boulder.

The ‘Porsche Breakfast Club’ meets this AM (Saturday, March 12, 2011).
This might be a suitable ‘organizing point’ for an impromptu PCA tour tomorrow (Sunday). The weather seems absolutely perfect. There hasn’t been any snow for weeks so the roads are nice (East of the Front Range). I just checked the phone info line (303-769-4771): Sunday is an ‘Open Lapping’ day at High Plaines Raceway (HPR). Lapping Days at High Plains Raceway | Your Colorado Performance Driving and Racing Future Track opens at 9:00 AM Sunday, March 13, 2011. Track is ‘hot’ 10-4 with no lunch break. BYO lunch. (Reminder: Sunday is Daylight Savings Time.) At breakfast today, I’ll propose we ‘tour’ out to HPR Sunday morning, have BYO lunch, watch, ride, drive laps if you want and ‘tour’ back to Denver or wherever. Does anyone have other ideas? Best, Grady PS: The Porsche Breakfast Club (PBC) meets at the Village Inn at I-25 and Colorado Boulevard in Denver. 4100 East Mexico Avenue # F, Denver - (303) 756-4579 This is in the NE-quadrant of the interchange. Starts 8:00 AM, today Saturday, March 12, 2011. porschebreakfastclub : Porsche Breakfast Club G.

hpaull - if you are coming up from C-Springs I'd suggest hooking up with the breakfast club and checking out what Grady is up to. I didn't realize that you were so far south. Boulder is a long way to drive if the canyons aren't in form.
The coffee and cars contingent up here always does a canyon run or two during the summer and wraps in the c + c event as well. I think one of those is more bang for you drive time, especially given tomorrows action closer to you. I'll keep you posted regarding a canyon run. For myself, since I leave on a work trip early next week, I'll probably do a very fast 20-30 min jaunt outside of B-town at while running errands at some point during the day tomorrow. While I wish I could make more formal arrangements, those will have to wait until this summer. . . Have fun all!
