All the easy stuff (sorta):
Repaired odo (today; He** yes I'm proud), replaced body parts (rocker, bumper pad, installed H4s, swapped to Euro rear lenses), added a hood strut, oil, valves, idle, swapped out to sport seats (OMG what a diff.!!!) and OEM 930S steering wheel (fantastic), swapped out chin spoiler and turn sig./hi-low switch, went to newer, nicer lug nuts (+ a second lock on each wheel), adjusted Targa top several times, fixed rear seat straps, adjusted ride height, added front coco mats, slapped a 40 year old hood emblem on (love that), mirror bras (OEM with Porsche "shield"), ripped out most AC krapp, and checked the air in the tires ;). Oh, and made friends along the way, like my buddy JB.... :D Bought some shirts, too............I know, easy sh*(, but all good. I'm no wrench. Out with the old: (Yes the new is working perfectly. Funny how that "Peanuts" comic is right there; not a staged shot, I swear!)... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1300673808.jpg |

brake rotors and pads, rear shocks, oil and filter countless times, modified airbox cover! sounds faster! installed strut tower brace, installed new front smile on front valence. pulled injectors to be rebuilt and flow tested, replaced. installed new fan belt. put in steve wong chip, clipped the brown wire (actually noticed a difference on that. cool) replaced cracked fuel line on top of engine! that was a ***** with the engine in the car! switched out stock seats for sport seats. replaced burnt out front wheel bearing and cracked hub.
I left plenty of other stuff to the mechanics because I know my limitations |
OMG, only 32?
I stopped counting, Recently I fixed my scratchy steering wheel. I replaced the "wiper switch" with Zimm's repro and found it still made the annoying scratching noise. I noticed the scratching only occurred at the top 1/4 section of the steering wheel, consistently. I removed the steering wheel. Observed the switch and it seemed fine but then I ran my finger along the steering wheel's copper contact. I took some emery cloth and smoothed out the 1/4 copper contact section and even the edges. Well that did the trick. My deduction: since the steering wheel sits most of time on the 1/4 section of the copper contact,, road vibration would cause the switch to rub up and down on the copper contact inadvertently cause scoring and scuffs on the contact which results in the "scratching noise". Sorry for the hi-jack, just wanted to share. Jim |
This is what I haven't done, replaced glass, removed doors, removed fuel tank, rebuilt front suspension, rebuilt rear suspension, removed dash, replaced brake booster.
