Odometer gear replacement done. Thanks due!
Wanted to thank Wayne for the info in the "101 Projects" and for all who added their input to the odo repair thread(s). Why not....
Taped it off today, "Back To Black" on the rubber seal, sprayed the bezel edges just to be sure, and it is officially done! Fun project. Only very minor injuries... I even added a calculated estimate of miles driven while the odo was broken back onto the thing......Sitting there you can't tell it was ever removed.....IMHO Super macro pix taken with LED flashlight in hand:![]() ![]()

Nice! I have a car on its way to me with a broken odometer, this repair is in my future. I did it once with an E30 M3, so I figure I can handle the 911 odo too.

And why not? Just watch out for the little wires; some of them bare in there, and they look rather brittle. Soft hands once the bezel is off, then again once the needle is off and it's butter. Once you rotate the needle to get it off there, you can easily do it again, which might be necessary to calibrate/set it. You can see where I got mine to; I'm now within 1MPH at all speeds (well, I checked 30, 60)...had to pull the needle three more times to get it right. No problem.
