lloyd floor mats

Anyone ordered the Lloyd floor mats? Does the driver's side mat have the split in it that makes it fit nice behind the accelerator? Are the luxe ones a lot nicer than the basic ones?

No split in mine, regular type with lettering. Fit well, quality product. I would not hesitate in recommending them.

I went with the mid-range model. I think they're pretty nice. Can't keep straight which is which. (Luxe, I think)
One suggestion is that you DO call Pelican to get color swatches. They'll send you samples that make the process much easier to nail down.

I had a set of Lloyd's mats (with Dinan logos) for my M3. No idea what level of Lloyds they are - foam backed thin cut-pile carpet mats. They are okay, nothing special. When they started getting worn-looking after a year or so, I went to cocomats.

i bought a set from another company that offered customizing and i am very, very happy with the results. very thick and they feel great. for no extra charge they made a custom logo for me. total cost was about $180 delivered. i got them at World Upholstery and Trim Custom Made Plush Carpet Floor Mats

you want the real reason or what i tell people?

i tell people i got it like that for contrast.

the real reason is that the mats were made by another company, world uph. just orders them. to be honest the mats are a much better product than the carpet was, but they would never contour to the weird shapes needed.

Lloyds have great quality - and one of the best anchoring systems to keep the mats from creeping - but any embroidery can quickly become black, and doesn't clean easily. I typically wear spaco driving shoes so maybe it's the soles of the shoes to blame. In any case, I changed to Coco mats because they were the prevalent style during the '80s, making it more period-correct, in my opinion.

Another benefit to Coco mats is that any dirt filters down in the fibers and can be shook out easily when cleaning the car. The tight weave on Lloyds mats looks luxurious, but every single speck of dirt from your shoes rides on top of the nap and stays there. I found myself keeping some duct tape in the car as a poor man's lint brush.
