2 horns?

I've just discovered that there are 2 horns in my '72 (both inside the front left fender). One is slightly fatter than the other. Is this normal?

Both are broken. Do I have to buy 2?

They are high low toned horns. Typical is two....

Yep, you have the right setup. This makes the horn warning more "musical".
As for replacing them, check first by connecting the leads directly to a 12V power source to make sure they are dead.
There is a relay in the trunk that may be bad and not supplying the horns with power when the button is pushed.

Thanks! I have checked them by connecting the leads directly to 12v battery - they are definitely dead.

You're saying that adjusting the screw will fix them up? Simple as that? These are 39 years old..

Maybe...that and cleaning corrosion helps electrical stuff. What do you have to lose?

Horns are cheap but WTF.....clean them up a bit and learn the circuit diagram.....

Hi

I managed to fix one of the horns (high-pitched) just by adjusting the screw. The other one was knackered (burnt coils) so I ordered a new one. You saved me $50

When you have both working, you'll otice how the sound is different individually vs. activating them together. I had my low tone horn crap out on me and I was left with only the high tone horn. Sounded a bit girly. So two in this case is definitely better than one. Especially when you're left with only the girl horn working......
