Weber fuel pump replacement

I have an ooooold fuel pump - I think it predates me - in the '69.

It makes a fair bit of noise when priming but otherwise seems to work. I don't have any problems at higher fuel consumption times.

However, it seems to have very very recently developed a small leak around the top connection.

Understandably, the idea of hot engine and hot MSD unit beside fuel delivery device is unnerving.

So should I try and address the leak or should I buy a fairly generic 12v solid state fuel pump (eg Facet) to deliver 3 psi.

Extra info is that it is a 2.0T so makes 110ish hp and I am replacing the engine (and fuel pump again) with a fuel injected one in April. I really just want to keep it going until then - maybe another 2-3000km.

Thanks

Cam

An aftermarket, low-pressure fuel pump will cost around $30-$40. However, my wallet tells me to fix the leak (if repairable), especially if you're going to replace the whole system. The original fuel line can be suspect or the hose clamp could be loose. Replace it with some fresh hose from the auto parts store. If the pump is leaking from the housing, then it might not be repairable.
