Went to sleep last night with the realization that my car is pushing the 200K miles mark (190,959 good last 3 numbers!) and that rust has ‘appeared’ in the front suspension pan, I dreamed that I win a piece of the state lotto and that I was sending my car to Autometrics for a full-body repair, powdercoat and to make it a 70’s ST, then installed a 2.8 twin-plug engine with all the upgraded suspension, oil cooling needs, etc…. and then I wake up!! I really should change my diet because I don’t even play lotto and I have to work for a living.
Regarding the engine.. what rebuild-kit do you recommend? I have seen many suppliers and prices out there.. I would like to keep the 2.4 but probably go to S specs, what it takes (aside from a large amount of money)? Leave CIS or replace with Webers? Any good source of information for a DIY?, too many questions, too little time. The car will be a daily driver; I had enough race driving when I was younger (6 years of rallies and 2 of track in Europe) Thanks in advance. ![]()

My post chili-dog lotto dreams usually involve replacing my 3.0 with a mildly massaged 3.3 Turbo from an 930, followed by rebuilding my 3.0 in a completely impractical manner and making a long-hood hot-rod, something like Randy Jones's Iris although probably not as refined.
If you rebuild to "S" specs (without MFI), you won't be able to keep CIS. CIS is limited to fairly mild cams. It seems a lot of folks like the "E" better as a daily driver, less total power, but what you do have comes on at a lower RPM. Nice dreams though. Tom |

that must be a record!!
115 views and only one answer!! (thanks Tom).
Some of you must know a reliable source for rebuild kits for a 2.4! What about Zims or Rennsport or Pelican or even (God forbid) MotorMeister?? Thanks in advance.

EBS is a good place, from all I've heard. Unforunately, if you elect to rebuild your magnesium-case engine, you will spend a LOT of money unless you do it wrong. Another thing to consider would be to find a used 3.6 and do the conversion. This would have the superior fuel system so Weber expense would be avoided. You'd get very high reliability and more power for about the same price.

Thanks MJ and Superman..
Superman you are saying that if I do it wrong it will be cheaper?? ![]() The 3.6 is my 'other' option but the challenge to find the 'right' engine plus all the other modifications (suspension, brakes, oil coolers, etc.) makes this option less 'appealing'. It will be a great car, no doubt at all, but I don't know if I want to go that 'deep'. I will keep you posted which way (rebuild or replace) I decide to go, but nothing will happen until June/July.. just started agthering information. Thanks

Jordie? I had a dream as well, at a young age. And my mom was so angry when she put the sheets in the washer!
