Porsche Crest Looking for Chicagoland 911SC club/group

I'm really interested in learning more about my 1983 911SC... and I'd like to save money by working on the car myself. I lack the tools, and space. I'm hoping there are some fellow Chicagoland Porsche people I could connect with! Please send me a note!

Cheers,
David

Look up Soukus here on Pelican. He set up a yahoogroups for Chicagolanders. They have a regular cars n coffee gathering throughout the year. Lots of friendly & knowledgeable DIY guys in that group.

PCA Chicago is a very nice group of people. Souk has done a nice job of bringing together group of people that are a nice balance between hardcore PCA'ers and a random group of people with 911s that like to get together and hang out.

Yeah, the lighting makes the paint job look better than it actually is. I'll miss that sticker whenever I get around to a paint job (transmission & chain tensioners first!)

Those stickers are still available here on pelican, no worries about removing the sticker.

If you still have your vehicle *VIN* specification decal on your door jam, it's either black or silver, do not remove that one, Porsche will not replace it... My father has an 83 coupe, I have an 80 Targa-both Guards Red!!

We are also Yahoo-Chicago Porsche regular's... Welcome!!

I looked through your rebuilt post...Amazing! I'd love to talk to you more in-depth about my 911 targa. I'm totally new to this scene, and I'm trying to meet more Chicago air-cooled porsche folks. Thanks for the note about the sticker. I'm afraid that almost all cosmetic details are being overlooked for more dire mechanical upgrades/fixes.

Great job on your rebuild!

Right now we are aiming for Sunday April 10th. We'll play it by ear and see if the weather cooperates. The usual place in Napertucky.

Chicago Porsche Cars & Coffee Sunday April 10, 2011 8-10 AM.

Location:

The Starbucks coffee shop on Diehl Rd, one block west of the intersection of Diehl Rd and Winfield Rd in Warrenville. From the east or west take the Winfield Rd Exit off of I-88 and go south a block, take a right at Diehl and go to the first light and take a left into the strip mall. Take right at the first stop sign and you'll see the Starbucks on your right...or the cars.

You can also exit at Route 59 approx. 1 mile west of Winfield Rd. to avoid paying the toll at the Winfield Rd exit. Go south on Rt. 59 and take a left at Diehl (a block from the off ramp) and back track. The Starbucks will be on your right.

Thanks! It was a great learning experience rebuilding the engine... You learn so much about the car. I had great help from the guy's from Chicago Porsche and of course here on Pelican. Souk is very knowledgeable and knows a great deal about CIS, He helped me understand the basics and now my CIS is dialed in-engine is running like a top. Yes, ask questions! Us guy's locally and here on Pelican will help...
