-82 SC 993 convert fuel gauge problem.

Gentlemen.

My -82 SC 993 convert, with 993 gauges, shows full tank constantly. When it gets down to the reserve fuel level, the light comes on but the needle is still showing full tank. I swapped the fuel tank sender unit and the result was the same. As long as I have had the car, it's been like this.
Does anyone have a clue what the problem might be? Does the 993 fuel gauge work the "same" way as the older ones?

Hoyo,

I put 964 gauges in my 1983 SC a few months ago. The values are different from the SC sending unit and the 964/993 sending unit. There is a small black box that goes between the gauge and the sender on the later cars but to use it you need to modify the sending unit. I ended up just sending the gauge to North Hollywood Speedometer and they re-calibrated the 964 gauge to work with the SC sending unit for about $150.

Works great now!

Alright, thanks for swift reply.

Do You know if the gauge will work if I just get hold of the black box?
If not, I just have to get the gauge recalibrated.
Once again, thanks.

I tried the black box and even modified a sending unit as described in another thread here on pelican but it did not work. If you do a search on 964 gauge install you can read where someone stated that they got it to work.
