Wink Did you tell your significant other how much your car cost?

Hi,
Did you ever tell your wife how much you paid for the car when you drove it home?

Single.. But when I was married and road racing motorcycles, she set up a spreadsheet to track all costs. Again, I'm now single.

She has a general idea, but I never tell her actual numbers. It's better that way.

My wife was with me when we went to look at it. When the PO took the cover off of it she looked at me and said buy it. So after a test drive (he drove) and crawling over, under and through it, i made him an offer and wrote him a check.

She knows what I originally paid for.
I don't want to bore her with the details of new brakes, suspensions, or interior...
She just likes to ride in it!

Yes she knows the purchase price but not the logic behind the purchase. I do however remind her that in the past year I have spent a lot less than the depreciation cost of her 32 years younger car Of course if yours is not a DD you may not win this argument.

Went shopping for another car one beautiful spring day and came across a red Targa. I wasn't even going to buy it and she whispers, "make him an offer." She's a keeper and always will be. I mean both the car and the wife. 41 years next month for the girl. Almost 20 years for the 911. Still love 'em both.

Yup, my wife knows. I told the PO I would take it. They asked if I had to check with my wife when she arrived and I said no. The wife pulled up, walked over and I looked and her and said "we own a Porsche..."

Yes. I took 1/2 day off when I found my car. I called her right before I made the deal. When I told her I was looking at a Porsche, she said "You're joking, right?".

I don't tell her how much parts cost though....it's better she doesn't know.

Unfortunately yes she knows.
It wasn't so much of a problem when I was looking, nor when I bought it. When she spends money on crap however (well what I consider crap), I just better not say anything or she casually reminds me of exactly how much I bought the car for
