decibel question (George's stinger)

I have a question about my exhaust for an upcoming autocross. I have 1 5/8's headers into the muffled version of the George's stinger and have no clue on its decibel level. It is loud, but after looking at all the charts online to get an idea of what 100db's sounds like I have no idea if I would be close or below that 100db limit. If anyone has some feedback that has the stinger setup I would love to know if you have been close to sound limits or not. I don't know if I will have time to get a reading before the event Sunday so thought I would see if anyone has a little insight.

I might try to make a little turn down just in case for a last resort if need be.

5 dollar solution below

My stinger got black flagged at Infineon twice, and I removed it. They told me it rang up 104.2 decibels. I replaced it with a 2in/2out Flowmaster, and havent had a problem since.

@KTL; I got promoted. I'm ZOA NOM now.

Yes, and I wish they had worked as advertised, because they save some precios weight in a good place.

If you have an iPhone down load the Paul Von duk (DJ app) it has a noise dosimeter that is crude, but sort of accurate.

Here's a shot of my setup:

I still have the parts, and may eventually replace the small mufflers with something quieter. The weight savings is worth the effort.

You'll get zinged.....trust me. Best to toss a tuneable tip on the end. Supertrapp is the easiest.

Since I no longer race or do AX, I removed mine. It's a 3 inch which is good for a single outlet. Available if you need it....gotta a bling bling end cap, too.

PM me. Lot's of discs, the more the louder, less is quieter with more back pressure.

You can weld it on on use it as a slip on with a minor modification or clamp.

I actually had better low end for AX with a more restrictive outlet.

I love the simplicity of it, but I was noticeably louder than the rest of the field, according to spectators.

Thanks, I feel a project coming on...

Which model do you recommend for the Stinger? I see on ST's web page about a jillion types and lengths.

Here is my 5 dollar solution.

steel wool
chicken wire
hose clamp (a big one)

Basically packing the stinger with steel wool and using a hose clamp and chicken wire to hold it in place.

What you do is pretty simple just pack enough steel wool in there, cut out enough chicken wire to fit over the pipe, and then hose clamp it in place.

It is noticeably quieter, and I will post up the real world results Sunday after the autocross. I am going to do my first run without this solution and see where I am, then run the next ones with the "baffle" in place and see what the readings are.

I have exact same exhaust and it rings up over 105dB. We are lucky Sebring has no noise limits!

George also sells little extensions that work perfect with a MK Exhaust. A quick four bolt change out. If you need pics or sound clip I can do that.
