Damaged threads on oil cooler

I recently removed the short flexible lines between the brass oil lines and the cooler in the front passenger side fender. The flexible lines separated fairly easily from the brass lines however they did not want to come off of the cooler. Several hours and much torching and sweating and swearing had them apart but the aluminum threads on the inlet and outlet are pretty much gone. I think they are beyond the help of a thread saver. What are my options?

Is there an adapter designed for this situation? I'm sure I'm not the first person this has happened to.

Or am I looking at a new cooler? Perhaps the aftermarket one offered by our host.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

J

Threads on the cooler itself? Do you have a welder that can handle aluminum? I would take it to the radiator shop and pressure test it for insurance.

I was going to say try using aluminum foil like a teflon tape, I over torqued my wife's banjo bolt of the power steering high pressure hose. Stopped the leak.

Yeah,i would say to go to a radiator shop as well ...
They can brass weld new fittings, although it will most likely be difficult to find new ones.

I just had mine apart last weekend as i replaced my thermoswitch and changed the oil cooler seal.I used a torch and heated the crap out of the fittings before they came loose.

Cheers !

Thanks gents. Looks like the consensus is clear. I'll be heading to a radiator shop shortly then. DO you know what size the fittings are?
