Corbeau retractable harness....

Anyone installed a set of the Corbeau retractable 4 point harness in a 911? It's all pretty straight forward except for the mounting of the retractor for the shoulder belts. Looking for some tips so that I won't have to "reinvent the wheel" on this one! Thanks in advance..

I haven't done it but just an FYI....if you plan to use those belts for a DE, PCA does not allow 4 pts. They need to be 5 or 6 pt and used only with proper racing seats designed for harnesses. That typically means a roll hoop or a guide bar to ensure the shoulder straps come across at the right height and angle. If it is for the street use or any non track use, disregard this info.

Street use, maybe some autocross work, etc.

corbeau belts

I just installed a set of these in my 73. I ran the belts across my harness bar and mounted the retractor at the rear side panel mount. This works, but is not the ideal location for the retractors. It's probably ok, but I'll soon move them to the rear deck.

Note: To run the belts through my harness bar guides, i had to dis-assemble the belt.....slip the belt through the length adjustment mechanism....this was not easy.

Regards,
Al

I use a harness bar like the above. Really stiffens up the car (I have a targa) and works well with the belts.

I would think the retractors would also be a problem or any club event.

The example I've shown is my 73 911, which was originally set up with OMP racing seats and 5-point harness...........I'm in the process of making it a street machine and the OMPs are a bit of a pain getting in and out of for street use. Nice comfy seats once your in them, but..... the Corbeau seats i've shown and probably the harness shown are temporary.....I'm going to get GTS seats, not sure which flavor yet, but set up for 5-points....and still, primarily, for the street,

Regards,

Al
