What is this?

Ok I have no picture. But in my passenger footwell there is a small radiator type thing, it has two switches on it. Any idea what this is? I have no digital camera and my regular film is nowhere near finished to develop.

Thanks
Shawn

You talking about a cut out that connects to the trunk area? It should have a mass of wiring connected to it from the AC conrols. Anyway, it's at the front of the footwell near the bottom. Goes to the AC blower underneath the smugglers hatch in the trunk.

dunno if it's what you're talking about or not.

Thanks guys
Kurt yes that must be exactly what it is. I didn't think my car ever came with AC, since there were no signs in the engine bay. Well now I guess I am going to have the same trouble as Superman did taking his out.

Superman how did you finally get yours out?

That thing behind the passenger footwell plywood was the key for me. I had already removed all the fasteners I could see in the smugglers' box, including disconnecting the reefer lines. The clips do NOT need to come off the box in there. And those clips can be removed without breaking stuff, but you would need to get an angled pick through the little hole on the clip. Anyway as I say, you don;t need to deal with those troublesome clips. With the footwell thing out of the way, and with all the 10mm fasteners and brass brackets out of the way in the smugglers' box, you can wiggle the box thing out of the smuggler's box. Then you have a place to put your drugs.

I think that "thing" is the A/C temperature resistor. Other A/C items to look for and remove:

Front condenser (front trunk in front of gas tank).
Receiver/dryer (behind left front wheel).
A/C lines and brackets (under chassis).
Rear condenser (underside of rear deck lid).
Evaporator/blower (smugglers box).
Cockpit A/C controls.

Have fun!

Thanks again

The only funny thing is there are NO other signs of there ever being AC in the car. I checked over Erics (FREEFLY) list and none of them are there, nor is there any sign of them being there. Weird.

I will take this hunk out, more weight gone. MY little 2.7 is going to love me

Shawn
