Show me your two tone - or - A Hood of a Different Color

Ok, I've got cabin fever pretty bad. The car's on dolly's and I can't do much the way it's stored so I'm itching for projects. Aurelien's thread about wrapping his entire car instead of painting got me thinking a bit.

Project 911 wrap

What if I wrapped or plasti coated the hood only? What would that look like? I've seen some of Magnus' cars with hoods a different color than the body and thought it was a good look.

What if I did a matt black to my hood only? Any photoshoppers out there who can edit this image to give me an idea of what that might look like? If I did the hood, do I need to do the engine lid?

Any pictures you have of cars with this treatment please share.

Thanks,
Jeff

Are you talking about black-on-black where the hood is the same color as the rest, except a matte finish? That seems rather odd.

Yup, that's what I was thinking. I'd say "subtle" not "odd", but that's just me.

I vote odd. itll look like a track rat. step in the wrong direction. efforts would be better spent on on a side script or something like that.

Here's a little bit more flat without so much of the reflection in the hood.

okay, I promise this is my last one. I had a really hard day at work and I just love photoshop projects. I'm not the best by far... but it's fun. Am I convinced? Ehhh... I don't know if my projects have done the idea justice, but I thought I'd do the magnus split paint scheme. Whatever!

Why don't you just buy a hood and try whatever you want? Then you can put the original back on of you don't like it.

Leakyseals,

Nice work! That's exactly what I wanted to look at. I'll have to think about it but thank you very much for photoshop work.

Actually, I used to have a side script on there but I "de"polished my wheels and removed the script.

I thought about blacking out the wheels too,

One of my favorites, but not ready to go here yet.

Carbon fiber wrap. Although not the same color

i just noticed how the pic makes my car look orange.
I'm planning on the same look for my 72, but instead of wrap, actual carbon fiber hood

If you want to experiment, why not get a roll of contact paper of a color you like.

Clean/wax the area and stick it on. If you hate it, carefully remove the contact paper, strip the wax and start over.

The link in my first post the OP wraps his entire car. That's what got me thinking about it in the first place. It would be wrap the hood. Not so easy to wrap a duck tail. Now....plasti dip would work.
