The PCA
Just curious as to whether you're into the PCA or not. I've been fairly active in my local chapter - the Ohio Valley Region - and I wondered if you were into it.
I got suckered into being my local chapter's Webmaster. Check out my lack of web design skills at the Bent Pylon site that I put together. Comments are appreciated. ![]() What do you like to do with your chapter, if you're into it? And if you're not, why?

I should be more active, but my area is more into tours and socialls. Nothing wrong with that, but I wish they had an organized auto-x every now and then or were more track oriented.
I guess I need to get off my a$$ and get something started. |

I joined in early January and haven't recieved my paperwork yet. I'm a little pissed, have to call em and see whats up, don't feel I should have to though. I'd be the chicago region with supposedly lots to do. I look forward to some DE and autocross stuff and even some concourse drooling action. Ask me again in a few months.

I haven't joined. I probably will eventually, but right now I'm too intimidated since I don't have a "real Porsche", just a 944...

A neighbor of mine sent in an app and has been waiting almost 3 months to hear anything back from them.

Just voted, looks like about half of us are active members.
PCA is a very diverse group of folks. Good chance to meet like minded people (for the most part) and enjoy your toy.

Just quit.
The magazine is just this side of fish wrapper. And the crowing about the new Pfefferwagen is making me ill. The 40-some-odd bucks is better put to picking up 911 & Porsche World at the newsstand. When I finally pick up the BMW that I've been looking for, I'll join the local BMWCCA and use some of their numerous and frequent DE's for 911 driving school. They know how to run a track day / DE.

The PCA is what you make of it.
Some of the reason I became an Area Director was to have more events in our region. Usually, we have a Autocrosses, monthly meetings, Rallies /Drives, DE, Dealer Tech Sessions and Regional Races.

I'm VP of my region - the prez is oiling me up or his job next year to boot.
We do some light touring, ~ four auto-x sessions, a show and shine, some dinner events, a huge event in the summar (the annual Whistler is very much worth going to for you WA state guys) and this year we're getting back into some DE events. PCA was my only chance to meet like minded owners...until I met you guys! ![]()

I have to agree with Jim and Jasper, who is our Veep, it is what you make of it. I am currently my regions president and I have really enjoyed being involved. I have met a lot of great people and through the inter region events I could participate in something PCA almost every day of most weeks in the year. As Jasper indicated, we have one of the best PCA events every year at the end of August (23rd,24th,25th) at Whistler and if you can make it, it would be cool to meet all of you and your cars in person.

After joining PCA I went to some of the "gatherings". Most members have 15-20 years on me & 4 times the annual income... and all they do is eat a big meal and go for a little drive in the hills. Not my cup o' tea. I still pay the dues and get the mag. I figure it's a small price to pay.

When I first joined PCA, my chapter was primarily populated by folks like me with a keen interest/fascination with the technical aspects of their cars, and who didn't mind getting their hands dirty working on their cars. (Why I like this board so much!) Over the years, I have seen the chapter turn away from the technical in favor of social events and racing. Even the annual swap meet has gone down the tubes. Don't get me wrong- I'm not criticizing my chapter or the PCA- I'm just commenting on how interests have shifted over time. I still think Pano is a great magazine and I have all the Upfixin' volumes, which are an incredible source of technical information. Is it worth $40 a year? Yeah- I'd say so.

I'd probably join if there was a chapter closer than 150 miles from where I live!

I've attended three local PCA events and I've never seen such a bunch of egotistical, cliquish, arrogant people in one group in my life. Needless to say, I didn't join.

Been a member since the early 90s....the magazine bites, but most of the racer crowd is pretty cool. The wine and cheese concours weenies make me ill.
PCA is what ya make of it....kind of like High School, cliques that you feel comfortable around and other that you run away from. OUR problem is finding venues for AX and DE. We keep getting un invited.....no real reason, they just feel that any racing is inappropriate.... ![]() |

Well let me toot the horn for the Potomac Region PCA. I've met a lot of great people, learned an invaluable amount about my car and have had a generally great time. My PCA membership would be a bargain at twice the price. I signed up to be a tech inspector, can't wait to get started and I've written two pieces for our local magazine. One PCA buddy babysat my 911 while I was in Germany. Another one has spent many hours helping me with with repairs and loaning me tools. I see the same folks at every tech session and see the same names on our local BBS. So yes, membership is what you make of it. Fortunately, there is a lot to offer in my region.
