Which seats will fit my 1983 911 SC?

A local dismantler is selling a beautiful pair of twin turbo seats from a 1997 911. They say they will fit any 911 from 1980-1998. Is this possible? Should they bolt in with no mods?

Also, if the new seats are electric and the old ones are not, is wiring up the new seats a big hassle?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, they should fit.
As far as I know, the seat rail dimentions didn't change between '74 through the last of the 993s.
SOme modifications may need to be made with the rails...but I bet they'll just bolt right in.
I too have bought a set of power seats and am not totally sure how to wire them. Guess, I'll learn though huh!

When I replaced my '84 non-power seats w/ C2 power seats, all I had to do was run a power wire to each seat (fused near the battery of course) and then ground the second wire. Which color is which (the wires coming from the seat) I don't know. I can look on my car, but better yet find someone w/ the right year's schematics to look it up.

Now if the seats came w/ heat, then the wiring may be harder...

And I just wrote a German on a set of heated 993 seats I've asked a similar question some time ago and remember being told that it wouldn't be any problem. But what about 996 seats? Can they fit in a Carrera 3.2?

I'd bet money that 996 seats wouldn't simply bolt up. The 996 and 993 do not share common floor pans and such do they?
I'm sure you could take a pair of 996 seats and adapt them with custom rails of sorts.
But why, the standard 996 seats look so drab! Like they should be in a Lexus or something!
My ultimate seating idea is a set of black leather late model sport seats.... maaaaaan those things look tough.

I agree Leland, especially on the black leather sport seats. Somehow exactly that specification is also the most expensive and rare one to find for sale. That's why I have started to look for non sport normal seats.

The 996 seats are actually good. I've sat in them a couple of times. The 993 seats are a bit narrower and can feel a bit tight.

The 993 seats should fit straight in. However I just found out that 996 seats will not fit.

I believe that in '84 they lowered the seat rails 1" and then added spacers to raise the seat back up to normal height. This is why carrera's can fit tall people better than our SC's. Take the spacers out and you're 1" lower. Putting post SC seats into and SC maybe raise the seat up 1" from where you are used to.

I haven't confirmed this for myself but if you get a chance to measure the rails to the floor on an SC versus a Carrera you may see this.

But...

if I remove the spacers, then I'm back to ground zero, right?

Interesting. Well, when I pulled my '84 seats to put in C2 seats, there were NO spacers. Perhaps the PO had taken them out. What do these spacers look like? Long metal strips I would assume...
