starter motor graunch 911SC

I have just picked up my new (old) 911SC and starting was fine, I did a long 900k drive Sydney to Melbourne and now when I start it goes first time but there is a graunch (best word I could think of!) as if the starter is stuck on.

Could it be the solenoid sticking if I have to remove the starter is there any advise on a/ removing it and b/ fixing it assuming that is the fault.

Thanks in advance fellow Porsche addicts

Give the solenoid a whack with a hammer...

l just replaced mine on my 89 3.2 it was making a spinning high pitched noise itwas the pinion worn but it didn't damage the ring gear. l got a high torque one from our hosts $350 delivered it's half the weight and sounds nice, there are plenty of threads on starter removal just google it.l had to do a partial engine drop which l found was all good but l believe your model can be done without doing this.Much easier..

Mine doesn't make a high pitch it's just as the car spins it's Ok but as it starts it makes that grind noise then it's gone as if it's stuck then drops out.

Thanks for the advice though thank you
