RPM drop while checking the oil??

Getting to know my new SC.. One thing I have noticed is that while checking the oil there is a noticeable drop in RPMs after removing the oil cap. Maybe 150 RPMs. Is this normal or an indication of something that needs further attention?

Normal. You've just created a vacuum leak by opening the filler cap.

When the RPM's don't drop, that's when their is a problem.

Where have you been?

I almost threw my oil restrictor away by not paying attention, many years ago, while working on the car. That drop is RPM drop is quite normal (and expected, as stated).

BEST!

That restrictor is in the hose at the top of the oil tank near the filler neck. If it is not there, your engine will stall every time you try to check the oil. I learned about this last year when I had some hoses replaced at the shop - they left the restrictor out by mistake.
