Seat belt Rebuild

Looking to see if anyone knows of a company/person that rebuilds seat belts. I have a 1980 911SC and the belts are not retracting very good

YES! I HIGHLY recommend Seatbelt Planet in Oklahoma. FAST service, BEST quality, great color selection, plus they really know what they are doing.
Google them, I don't think the forum will allow a link.

Went with them and am happy.
I only changed the retractor and the webbing, they put all the originals back for everything else and am very glad for it. Had to drill a hole in the retractor plate to line something or other up, it was no big deal, just be ready for it. Come to think about it, they can re-use your old retractors, then you wouldn't have to drill a hole, it was the same price so I went with a new retractor, it's hidden from sight.

Used them as well. Bought their new replacements rather than rebuild what I had. Very happy with them.

Unless they have changed their design, the new ones come with and require you to use the new female end on the tunnel, which means the factory seatbelt warning system isn’t operational and if memory serves, the factory boot won’t fit over the end either. I send mine back and had them put my factory original male end and other factory attachments on the new belts- the new retractors were the reason I wanted replacements and I couldn’t be happier. Nice to not have to coax the belts back in!

I was about to say that new ones from Porsche were only $200 but holy smokes the price has gone up, $340 now from Pelican. I guess when I got mine it was about four or five years ago.

I too was looking to replace mine for slow retracting and came across a you tube video. Basically get a 5 gallon bucket, fill with hot water, and a good bit of Downey fabric softener. Pull out your seat belt as far as they will go and put a clamp on the belt to keep it extended. Put the bucket on the rear floorboard( I lifted the bucket by means of a couple of small 6x6 blocks to get as much “ belt” in the water as possible an use a piece of broomstick or whatever to vigorously stir. You will be amazed at what comes off. Let it soak then stir, then dry with a towel and leave out overnight. My belts work flawlessly now. I was so happy with results I did it to my 06 duramax truck and it worked just as well.

+1 on Seatbelt Planet. I sent them my old belts and they used the male ends as noted above and the original retractors. Just rewebbed both belts. Very easy to work with and fair pricing.
They even stitched my original Repa tags back on below their tags and sent my original webbing back.

Had no issue with the boot. Took some stretching to get it on but works fine. My factory seatbelt warning never worked and I would have disabled it anyway, so no loss on my part. Ontario, Canada where I live has draconian penalties for people too stupid to wear a belt. I have mine on before I start the car.

I live about 5 miles from Seatbelt Planet. I saw this thread, and it got me wondering about my old seatbelts in my daily driver, my 374,000 mile 1986 El Camino. So I hopped in my car and drove over there. It is a very nice building, and it is obvious they are not really set up for much walk in business. He said they sell their seatbelts literally all over the world, and to countries he had never heard of.

They do all the work right there, on site. They are not some warehouse that just sells some other places seatbelts. I ended up ordering a all new set of seatbelts color matched to my interior of the El Camino. They will let me know in a couple of weeks when they are ready.

I bet it takes them a couple days, not counting the holiday- unless they are getting the business they deserve
