Okay I know its off topic but I´m sure you guys wont complain too much. I decided to swap my German flat 6 for three 9 cylinders. Ran into another oldtimer while we were up there and Navy Seals(german ones) upon return.

every euro spent keeps these histrircal planes in the air and they have alot in common with our cars. Money well spent in my books. A freind is a mechanic with lifthansa in Hamburg and he loves working on such machines. Flying with soul

Very Nice!

Years ago saw an old Ford Tri Motor flying along the coast near Malibu.

Very Nice Airplane photos!

Very, very cool. I've been in a B-17, and years ago a Ford Trimotor "Tin Goose", but never a Ju 52.

Is that the Ju52 formerly owned by Martin Caidin and that he affectionately named "Iron Anne"? That one was built in 1936, is serial 5489, and the last I heard it was registered as D-AQUI or D-CDLH.

Thanks for the pics & video

p.s.
At first when you mentioned trading one air-cooled German engine for another, I thought you were going to show a BMW R60 or R65!

What a gig that would be to be a pilot of one of those...

Very Nice. I flew in a airshow flying an F-16 on the wing of one of these Ju-52s. It was an honor!!

So is this your airplane now? Need any extra pilots?

Unfortunately not. I was discussing the meintenance costs with the chief mechanic who was onboard. The plane belongs to the Ju52 charity which pays for the upkeep. Its fully serviced every day during the flying season. His words were its the most inspecred plane in the entire lufthansa fleet. I don´t think the pilots will be giving up their jobs soon as they were having way too much fun

They must really pull hard to the right with "ALL" of that LEFT Rudder I see being used to trim out the flying?
