this time doing the SO-CAL road trip trifecto of
the beach-desert-mountains & back- early AM blast.
the route is
DTLA-SANTA MONICA PIER-PALM SPRINGS-LAKE ARROWHEAD-DTLA

10 FWY EAST TO PALMSPRINGS AND ON TO
LAKE ARROWHEAD VIA HWY 18 UP TO 5000 FT

Just drove from San Diego to Palm Desert earlier this week, in a rental car unfortunately. We took the route through the mountains (the 79 to the?). Man, I wish I was in my 911!

Nice car and a nice trip, not a bad day today.

i left downtown LA at 6.30 am-
reached santa monica pier by 6.45 am-
left santa monica -hit the 10 fwy east by 7.am
reached palm springs by 8.40 am
left palm springs at 9.10 am
the only slow part was the trip to lake arrow head.
the 330 was closed so i had to make a detour out of the way
to get to the 18- i reached lake arrow head by 10.35.
i hit traffic on the way back down the hill & on the 210 west.
arrived back in downtown LA by 12.35 pm
Total time was just over 6 hrs including scenic photo opps,
2 gas/toilet stops-detour & traffic.
total miles approx 300.
speeding tickets-none.
memories-lifelong.
its all about the journey......

deciding which to drive depends on how quick i need to get there!
i have been driving my race car on Hoosires on the street & to and from the track for almost

I'm in southern France right now. Very inspiring roads here... Like I told you a while ago, it might be a neat idea to ship one of those babies to Europe and drive it in the Alps for a week or so over here.... (I'll come out to take pictures.... Haha!!)
