911s/912e power steering conversion?
How difficult would it be? 9-11 inch fronts would be quite a workout without it. 8s make it pretty stiff already. also how do you adjust konis?

Smart Racing has a power steering setup - expensive !
I would be interested in adding PS to my 88 Carrera. Tom |

Yes, all Porsches had power steering after 1989. There were significant chassis changes after '89, so I would guess it's not straight forward. 944s had power steering too.
Would think someone had looked into though. The smart racing product is really nice- uses an electric powered pump and a new rack but at $4K it,s beyond my desire. At half that, I would go for it!

Anyone? I'd be interested and I bet others would be too!
I understand the purist point of view, but would make autocross/track days with big tires more pleasurable.

You should look at the Boxster PS rack if you're going to go to that much trouble. Just a thought. It looks a trifle smaller. |

Look into using the electric pump from a GT3 RSR if you do go this route.

I also looked into installing power steering years ago but was put off by the expense and complication it would bring to my life. Ultimatlely I was able to accomplish the same results by reducing my caster to < 3 degrees and bringing my camber to factory stock spec ( 0 degrees ).
Compared to a power steering install, tweeking with the alignment makes infinitely more sense. Cheers, Joe |

But who needs them up front? If for looks alone...otherwise, 11s do nothing for understeer. But then, we can do what we want and nobody can tell us what we can or can't do to our own car.
