Newbie question re oil cooler circulation
Hi all:
My oil cooler and both lines to/from the tempostat valve are cold for the last few months in daily driving. Since upgrading to earlier oil temp gauge/sender, reading does not go above 180 F. Both oil cooler and fan in full use last summer. Average driving air temp last summer was maybe 85 F and last few months maybe 45 F. Question is: Is it normal for oil to only circulate through engine mounted cooler, sump tank, and motor during cooler months? Thanks in advance -------------------------- Bob Sauerteig '87 Coupe Here she is: |

Yes. In fact, it won't even flow through the engine mounted cooler until 180 deg., so sometimes that never even opens either.
Perfectly normal.

Jeez, where's Roland K. when you need one of his inimitable responses (slaps)...
I spent summer replacing dino oil with Mobil 1 and I'm wondering when to expect the torrent of fresh oil to help OLD sump oil leak by all the gaskets and cinch the inevitable EPA case against me. -------------- same as above |

Thanks, Tyson.
Also, I apologize. I missed your response while preparing my "lack of response diatribe". |
