Wheels spacer size?

I have am 85 Targa and I am installing 17 x 7 and 17 x 8.5 996 twist Italian after market wheels. The offsets are ET 55 Front and ET 50 rear.
My question is, what is the best size spacers to use that will fill the fenders?
I am planning on running 225/45R17 and 255/40R17 tires, have not bought them or the spacers yet.

All help is much appreciated

best thing to do is set them under the car where you like them and measure the hub air gap, Kevin

DP911.....
If it helps I just installed 993 Cup 17" wheels to my 87 Coupe for DE

17", 55 ET front and rear, used 1.5" spacer on the rear and 1" spacer on the front.
Went with 245/40/17 rear and 225/45/17 fronts, and I could certainly have used 255's

You'll need longer studs as well, take care make sure they are not too long or the lugs will bust right thru.

Buy some extra lugs for the spare, the longer studs will certainly break thru
