Reasons why this distributor cap wouldn't work?
Hello all. First some back story--I changed my plugs and rotor back in December, and was going to change my distributor cap as well, but the cap I bought never worked. I found this out after much trial and error with trying to figure out why the car wasn't starting after the project...and it came down to the cap. I've been driving with the old cap on since then. But the brand new cap has been sitting on my shelf for months now and it annoys me every time I look at it. So...could anyone tell me from these pictures why this cap wouldn't work on an 83 SC motor? Thanks!

Distributor cap question
Here is a link to the Bremi/Karlyn site. When I put in your year, make and model info, the
8048 distributor cap came up. Maybe yours is defective ie- hairline crack, etc. Our host lists Bosch and Beru parts, but not Bremi. Ignition Catalog (Spark Plug Wire Sets & Direct Ignition) Last edited by craig722; 05-15-2011 at 09:06 PM.. Reason: grammar |

Maybe you installed it backwards, the high notch fits into the distributor notch so it locates with a positive set.
