'72S oil line plumbing ?

i'm installing a '72 oil system into an earlier car.
does anyone know of photos or drawings that show the oil line "plumbing" (hoses) as they exit a '72S oil thermostat ? ie; which ports go where & how many are used ? (2 or 3?) any help appreciated.
TIA
jerry

Thanks Gino. That link will lead Jerry to all the right resources.

Jerry,

Installing the ’72-only oil system in any other 911 is serious business.
It will take great care to do this correctly.

What is your intent? Original ’72-like? A '68 911R-like? Something other?
There are very detailed threads on all of these.

If your intent is to ‘improve’ the 911 dry sump oil system, please read this:
question re oil flow engine vs tank

Best,
Grady

hi Grady;
thanks for chiming in. the diagram that you posted sorts out my immediate question (unlike the factory parts manual)
in short, the top port (fitting) of the thermostat goes forward to the cooler(s) & the forward port goes to the reservior. this gets the project moved forward as i can now cut hoses & get fittings installed.

my *next* question is:

where does the *other* fitting go ?

in answer to your questions, I'm not sure if what I'm attempting is most like a
68R or something else the only thread I could find on an R conversion left me w/ ???

i'll be posting something more towards the end of the project as opposed to
as-I-go-along.
THANKS again!
jerry

Here are two posts that I referred to alot when I added and external cooler to my car. Have you had your oil console machined to allow a thermostat to be installed?

thanks luvndasun !
the first link makes sense as i can see the actual pieces vs. conceptualizing based upon a diagram. if i had seen the second link before i got this far i may have opted for hoses in the rocker. I am running hard lines (still in the rocker) another story in itself. hoses would have negotiated this area much more easily.

yes, console has been sized to accept a thermostat from the case vs. the unobtanium 72 911S unit.
p.s. do I still use the case bound thermostat ? (ie; 2 total)

thanks for the links!

thanks Grady!
the diagram sorted out my question about the 2 lines that go forward. from that i made up those hoses. i was confused about the bottom fitting coming out of the thermostat & it seems that i probably won't be able to make that up until the engine/trans is back in the car. should be straight forward at that point. the wheel well area is the real puzzle in my application. the front of the car is pretty straight forward.
thanks again
jerry

Thanks for the feedback on my post, I am glad it was of help. Also, yes, you would still use the case-type thermostat. I handed my housing and new t-stat to the machine shop and basically said "make this thing fit in this thing, and note the orientation of the studs ensure the t-stat will only fit one way" and they took care of it.

I have been well pleased with the results of the system.
