Can this muffler be welded??

My muffler has an exhaust leak, take a look at this photo, can this be fixed by welding it?

Short answer is yes, but as the above poster said, it's really hard to tell from your photo.
Depending on how much repair is actually needed, if you're going to have to pay someone to do it, it might be cheaper to pick up a used replacement.

Take it to the local independent muffler shop - they will be able to tell you and how much. Then you can decide to fix it or get another one.

I agree with Sergio. I had a local shop weld up a 2" crack on my SSI's, charged me $20.

I had my stainless steel muffler welded up about 4 years back. Had a couple of cracks in it. Since it was welded up - no issues. Friend helped out. Cost was a bottle of wine.

Follow-up: Yes, it can be welded. Just had a local muffler shop do a great weld for about $25. Sounds much better. Thanks for the responses.

My B&B finally cracked after 40,000 miles.
I love the sound though... hopefully it can be fixed.

Was that the noise you were hearing?
I didn't think the valves were loose enough to make much racket.

P.S The PCA meeting at Stowe was rainy but enjoyable.

a normal welder with regular steel wire welds stainless just fine. You just have to paint the weld or itll rust is all
