Ignition Key
SO, I managed to loose my keys one day while snowboarding, wouldn't be a big deal accept my one and only copy of the 911 key was on the ring. Luckily I had a number of blanks which were the proper length (and no I'm NOT going to try to explain how come I hadn't had copys cut yet) So I took one of the door handles off, took it and the blanks into a locksmith and had them cut me keys. Nice job work real slick. Except they won't work the ignition, so what's different that they can work perfectly in the door but not the ignition??
I guess I'm going to have to remove the ignition next but I'd sure like to know.

hey robert,
you should have the ilco dm4 key models. one key should work the door and the ignition if it was that way previous to the key lost. the tumblers in the doorhandles are real sloppy. maybe the ignition is more precise. i had two mismatching keys so i had a new key blank cut to the ignition key then the door tumblers set to the ignition key. backwards from your situation. looks like you will have to cut to the ignition due to a more precise mechanism? i don't know. if you need more ilco dm4s, contact scott mclean on the 912 board. good guy with great prices if he still has them. bob 68 L |
