Aftermarket rear-view mirror recommendation?
I have to replace my windshield, so I'm looking at replacement rear-view mirror options. My first instinct is to use an OEM BMW mirror with the auto-dim feature. Anyone here use an OEM mirror from another manufacturer to replace the stock Porsche mirror?

My '88 has a mirror I purchased off Ebay that is substantually wider, has the "flip" up/down night/day control, and includes left and right map lights w/switches.
But not so wide as to interfere with sun visor positioning. Plus the autodim is not very functional with a tinted rear window. |

Yes, I used Audi mirror as it has larger diameter metal base compared to stock. How are you going to attach it to the windshield? I used 3M double sided tape and it's working so far.
On stock mirror, the tape won't stay attached for too long as the metal base is to small to hold the mirror weight. |
