Another IROC build

Hi there,
After reading the many amazing build threads I thought I would contribute my own which I hope will at least partially resemble an IROC . My starting point is a 73 911T chassis which has had an interesting (and probably hard) life. The PO converted it to a short hood 964 RS look, installed Bilstein coil overs, Turbo brakes, and an early (I think) 3.6 - it has the alloy induction runners. Also has a roll cage, Momo seats and not much else inside. Since taking ownership I have installed a Hargett shifter (modified with additional bracing), new clutch, brake pads, and a new 6 point harness. The crappy C2 kit was starting to disintegrate so I decided to go the IROC route - effectively backdating an update! Progress has been slower than I would like, complicated by the fact I work on a remote mine site in the Philippines 5 weeks out of 8. With my work schedule I am relying on a couple of local (Brisbane) fibreglass guys to help me with the project. So far we have managed to remove the C2 front bar and fit the Getty IROC nose. This involved modifying the fender oil cooler mount - cutting and welding a new lower bracket, fitting a spring loaded tow hook, glassing in brackets to the bar and the associated grinding and general stuffing around to get it to sort of fit. This highlighted a couple of new problems - both front guards have varying amounts of bog & rust and the passenger side has had a fair hit and is about an inch out of line. I'm now having 2 glass guards and a ducktail made locally, GTRacing rear bar is hopefully on a plane over the Pacific and will be fitted before I get home next. More updates when I get some progress photos.

Before

Front Bar fitted, also Fiberglass bonnet that had been sitting in the shed, its stuffed but about 1/2 the weight of the steel one. Steel bonnet removed to investigate the possibility of making a carbon fiber mould.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing your progress. I'm also busy with an update backdate or backdate of an update or er ... one of those. I've gone back to a longhood.

Update!

It's been a while since I updated this thread and we have made some progress. The old girl now sports a ducktail, fiberglass guards, GTracing rear bumper, and a fairly ordinary fiberglass front bonnet (found in the PO's pool shed!). Also swapped the heavy Simmons 3 piece wheels for the cast Remotec rims, they are probably a bit on the small side 9" & 71/4" but I had them in the garage...Handles pretty good with new Kumo 275's on the rear and 235's on the front. Work yet to be completed includes swapping the side mounted oil cooler for a front mounted unit, fixing an exhaust manifold leak, replacing rusted drivers door, through bonnet fuel filler, oh and paint.
