Backdated then backdated Again!
You may have see this in other posts, started as an 88 Euro RHD in Marine Blue, very tired cosmetically but mechanically excellent.

Sensational! Excellent work and love that color.
If you take it back any more, you will have a smokin 356 |

Looks like sunlight; the right edges look correct. ? Great looking 911....
|
Wow...
That looks fantastic, I have to scrape up the coin for a backdate.
That's a wonderful hue of blue - is that an original Porsche color? If not, where did you pick that color from? |
Always one of my favorite colors on a early 911/914.
|
thanks guys...
Color is Porsche KOENIGSBLAU 3E2 from 2003 onwards. The deck lid is off a 964 hard wired to lift and retract, has some U trim clipped over each vent then and bonded to 'look' like alloy |
What a lovely looking car!
It is a similar backdate to the ones Singer do - and sell for crazy money. How complicated is backdating the front to long lid like that? I should imagine there is a lot more work than just buying all of the relevant parts, but how much more? I have had a little look on PP to see if I can find a thread that covers it but couldn't - be great if you would shed a little light - it does look awesome. Alex |
Hi acjwatt,
I should have known it was you when I saw this thread on the top ;) The thread you want to find is: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/139484-ultimate-backdating-thread.html Amazing looking car! I love that 964 lid with the alloy look! |
Ha!
Always quick to help Wesay - much appreciated, will check it out. Al |
Everytime I talk myself out of a backdate, somebody comes along with one that really pulls at my heart strings and has me thinking about spending a lot of cash. Great job.
|
Not as costly as you might think guys, just need to know how to get the best result, parts, trimmers, paint shop, mechanics.

Very tastefully backdated - the best looking 1988 911 I've ever seen! |
Thanks G450X.
Some idea of costs excluding suspension set up. Glass Fibre hood, front and rear bumpers and steel fillets for the front indicators = £765 Pre 73 bumper trim £350 Indicators, chrome trim F and R = £600 Color change = £1000 Reconditioning and coloring seats = £250 964 Deck Lid = £200 Alloy sill covers £50 £3215 = $5200 I did all the trimming, panel work, wiring and paint prep - The tricky bit is the front indicators, I chose to keep the original wings and use steel mounts for the indicators and horn mounts, plus a steel fillet from the wheel arch to the new, lower, indicators. A lot of grief shaping a double curve below the headlights, guess the apprenticeship With Bentley/Rolls Royce helped:) Any help you need let me know.. |
