Sport seat removal
I just picked up a 1973.5 targa with sport seats. The seats have the tilting bases and want to remove the seat to tidy them up.
Can the seats come off the base or do the entire assemble need to come out? If so, how do I un- bolt them? Thanks,

I think it is an 8MM (maybe 6MM) Allen with a Ratchet at 4 corners. If you have electrical adjustable seats or seat belt warning light those will need to disconnected under the seat as well.
Just Raise the seats if adjustable and slide forward and back to gain access. If adjustable, remove fuse as not to promote a short or blown fuse. Sucker is heavy so be prepared. I found if I have the back rest forward, it helps in maneuvering it out. Jim

Yes, very easily. 4 bolts total, 2 in front, two in rear. Slide the seat all the way back and look under the leading edge of the seat. There are two metal tabs, one each side, emerging out of the under side of the seat thru the seat material. The tabs have a hole thru which a 13mm?? bolt passes to thread into a receiving bracket on the tilt mechanism. Rear should be the same. Take out those 4 bolts and the seat alone will come out, leaving the entire tilt mechanism exposed and still attached to the car.
