ist gear
All my gears work great except 1st. Has all the problems that we always talk about. Most shops want to do a complete trans rebuild at about $3500. But times are tough. If I found a Porsche shop to just fix 1st gear, how much are we talking here? All other gears shift and downshift. I mean you must take your time, but they work. I drove a 356 like that for 10 years and you could still shift it when I sold it. (that was a mistake because it would be worth $45,000 now!!) Nick

Hey Nick, Besides 1st hope you are well.
May I ask, have you checked your clutch cable adjustments? Where is the height of the clutch pedal compared to the brake pedal? Are they equal? Does the clutch engage half way up the pedal travel? I recently, adjusted a buddy's '86 clutch cable, his pedal was almost all the way down. He was smashing into first and sometimes 2nd, all the time. Once adjusted, and re-adjusted a week later, he was shifting without grinding. Just a thought, Jim
