The Atlanta400
Hello guys. I was talking to a buddy today who races an RX7. He said that he has been fairly successful, but racing is such a money pit that he had to hang it up for a little while. He also said that for the $$ the best deal going is Endurance Karting. He gave the the address for the web site EnduranceKarting and said he did it last year...
I really want to do this (am going to do it). It is cheap (just over $300 each) for a 6 hour endurance race w/ a team of 4. They provide carts, gas, everything! (except helmet and suit, which you can rent) I will also do the Kart school the Friday before the race, but it is not required. Anyone interested in joining me and forming a team of 4? The Atlanta race is Saturday April 5th. Check out the site... I think we could have a strong team considering the skills we have picked up driving our cars and DE's, autox, etc. We will need to pay rather soon to reserve a spot.... let me know! 1st 3 get to be the unofficial Pelican Karting team!

I looked into karting in Branesville, Ga. Some farmer took a heck of a lot of acerage and set up a state of the art asphalt track with paddock, towers, stands and even a snack bar. Its in the middle of no where...............sort of a field of dreams thing! They hold the nationals their.
Unfortunately, you have to have a kart and a decent racing kart wil run about $1500 - $2000 with a stock Briggs engine (5hp). Margay is one of the most popular rollers in Atlanta. For the senior sportsman's class all they require is stock engines which saves big bucks over the bore and stroke 2 cycle models. An engine can get you though two seasons. The beauty of this track is that the owner keeps it open 365 days a year and only charges $10.00 to practice all day. Not bad. You do need the helmet and kart suit. I do have a brand new suit I never wore made just for karting (Bell). Black, red, white, size large if your interested. Their is a decent kart shop in Atlanta....... AAA Kart Sales 4192 - A Bancroft Circle Tucker, Ga 770/491-7121 These guys are more into the dirt scene but may deal with endurance karts. Good for parts, engine rebuilds, frames, etc. Family owned. I would love to be a team member but I am out of town that weekend. I used to race Formula 440's while in the SCCA and an endurance kart would be a kick, especially on a large track. Sean,
I'm interested in doing it, but I may have to tweak my school schedule. If you'd like you can call me @ 919-932-6927 after 5pm and we can discuss the weekend over the phone. |
