Hey Don! I remember the XXX sticker...this one is a restaurant though:) I just couldn't resist! I never actually even saw that one. Really though, I'm looking forward to that XXX visit! Chris is going to work on carpet tonight. The seats will go in right after the carpet is in thee car.

The seals on the rear bumperettes worked great!!! My paint feels a little safer...and they look much better too. Pics soon.

The hub for the new Prototipo was a PITA. I tried a Momo hub for a pre-73.5, but it didn't fit. I had my buddy Chris bring over a few early hubs...same thing. It's probably the original spline, but sometimes that's the way it is. We ended up trying a Boss hub with bolt holes for Nardi and a Momo. It worked!!! I ordered one right away. It's always nice to have options too

Greg - now i know who beat me out to buy Don's car about a year ago! nice work on the mods. i ended up buying a white '72 (also with a 3.2) and am going thru many of the mods you are doing. would you mind posting the link to the boss adapter for the prototipo and the LED thread?

appreciate it,
Simon

Hey Simon...it's a small world! That's great you found a 72 to play with. Feel free to keep in touch with mods, because (like ya said) we are doing many of the same things.

What are the bumperette seals and how do they help the paint.

Great car by the way!

gregbus 08-21-2011 08:31 AM

The seals go on the bumpertte itself...on the license plate side. They protect the paint by keeping the metal on metal rub from taking place. I should post some pics on my next update. That'll help! It was a great (and cheap) investment for me.

Thanks for the car props David!

daepp 08-22-2011 07:27 AM

I would love to see the seals you speak of as my car has been recently repainted and the previous license plate panel paint was heat damaged.

gregbus 08-22-2011 08:21 AM

You can always check out pics of them on Google until I get off my butt;) Here is what they look like installed, but I'm not sure what they'll cover up. They primarily just keep the rub from happening.

daepp 08-22-2011 08:24 AM

Oh - they just keep the plate off the paint? I thought they were on the back side of the license plate panel. My bad.

Thank you.

gregbus 08-23-2011 05:56 AM

That actually attach to the bumperette itself and not the plate. They save the paint there. No worries at all David! I learn something new every day.

Great car Greg!

I've now answered myself a lot of the questions I just sent to you by going through this thread. I'll pop you another email shortly.

thx greg and will do

gregbus 08-29-2011 11:31 AM

Hey Simon...here is the actual thread I used to do the LED lights. I only got brighter side/marker lights. Plus I had to get different colors (where applicable) for euro lenses.

Classic says true. You need the bumper to panel seals, you are not running front bumpers, so you just need some for the back two. Stripes for both sides (4 small strip pieces to slide behind the chrome bumpers), they are cheap and easy to do.

I have a 71t, I have wondered about the H4 head light housings on an early car. They look really good on yours. All my buddies say to keep it stock, but after seeing yours I like them. Hummm, change may be coming.

Have you any suspension goodies? I always like to hear what guys are doing and what really is worth the money.

gregbus 09-15-2011 06:32 AM

Yep, what Classic said was sooo true! I put some on, but I haven't posted pics yet. Too bad all the parts aren't cheap and easy:) More pics to come soon.

I like the H4 lights on the early cars too. Besides, they would be very easy to convert back if the need ever came up. I have a set of H1 lights on the 86, and I really like those! MUCH better light at night with these lamps. The headlight relays are a good thing to have too.

I haven't done anything with the suspension yet. Heck, I haven't even driven this car yet. I'm just trying to get a few things done to it in my down time. That, and I like the mental and physical therapy I get out of it!

gregbus 09-15-2011 06:55 AM

Here are the bumperette seals on the car. I like the look better...they're quieter...they protect the paint there as well. Not too bad to have all around!

simon@nshore 10-04-2011 09:40 PM

car is lookin good greg. are the side bumpers to the left and right of the bumpettes metal? holes filled? and painted/? or sticker/plastic filler piece?

did u drive the car much with the 3.2? how does the 2.7 compare? besides the drive back from spokane, WA to north van, BC (thru the casades on hwy 20) i haven't driven my 3.2 that much... damn the torque and snap was addicting thou! needs sway bar, new shocks, likely all torsion bars... all original rubber is pretty much shot in suspension...

gregbus 10-05-2011 04:44 AM

Thanks Simon! I've been doing things to it, I just need to take some pics and get off of my butt and update this thread! I'm on here often enough. haha! The rear bumpers are the stock metal with black stripes. Unfortunately, the holes are still there...for now. Other fish to fry before I get to that.

My buddy Chris has driven it with both engines in it. I bought the car from him. The 2.7 in it now was his dad's, so he knows it well. I never had the car with the 3.2. In fact, I haven't even driven this car yet. D'oh! I'm just taking advantage of some down time and playing with it. Having a 3.2 in the 86, I think this one will be just as quick! Though it will be MUCH lighter.

I grew up in Spokane...I know it well and visit there often! Old stompin' grounds:) Gimme a shout on my email gregbus05 at yahoo dot com.

DonDavis 10-20-2011 10:25 AM

Update? C'mon Greg, show us some current pics!

gregbus 10-20-2011 02:29 PM

Hey Don, I can/should update some pics! I've been playing around with it, but I just want it all now! Big shock there. haha! The seat rails are on now....I just got a washer bottle and pump for it too. When I get it put in (when the new hose and the T's arrives) I'll have some pics to show for sure! The RS door panels are in there now and all. Well...mostly. Here it is currently anyways.

The SC seat rails on the seats (thanks to Chris)

The door panels so far (no tops on there yet)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1319148423.jpg
I also used some rosettes with the new window cranks. Billet door bezels are good too.

I got some nice ,authentic, carpeting from Autobahn Interiors. Chris used the RS carpet kit as a mold for the new carpet, so it's getting there. One more thing completed. Before too long, it'll have an interior!

More to come...eventually;)

You wouldn't happen to know the offset on those 7x15 wheels? I really like the way they look on your car. I've got a 73T with cookie cutters. I'm seriously thinking of updating to fuchs. As far as I can tell there's 2 different offsets in this size wheel. Any info would be appreciated.
