One more tire question
Can I do auto-X and DE events with Dunlop P225/50 ZR16 M+S on the rear and P205/55 ZR16 M+S on the front of a 911SC?
I am thrown by the M+S letters of the tire. They really do not look like mud+snow tires, anyone have experience with these? Also what does 91W on the rear tires and 89W on the front one mean? Thanks JoeF |

Joe,
Go here for some sidewall marking info. Tire Rack Tech. Info. The M+S means it's an all season tire. Not actually a dedicated mud 'n snow tire! Hope that helps. You can autocross with any old tire you want. Just that most street tires will get really hot and start to melt. Did that to my BFGoodrich T/A ZR's on a Mustang Cobra at an autocross. Outer shoulder of tire got a little "cooked" looking at the very outer edge. Your Dunlops are probably a little better than Goodrich T/A ZR's, but i'd bet they can get a little ruined if you push the car hard without warming up the tires first. This seems to be the norm at an Auto-X as you sit and wait between runs instead of running consecutive laps at a Driver's Ed event.

I ran a couple DE's with some all season Falkens. They work OK, and they talk alot (squeal). Once they got hot, they just slid all over the place.
I noticed once I got a grippier tire for the track, my lap times got much better. |
