Dumb Washer Pump Question

I can find the pump OK, but I do not see how to remove it. It seems to be mounted on rubber mounts. I do not see anything that needs undoing to get it free. Do I just pull until it comes adrift, or what? I don't want to break/ruin anything, but I do want to get it out to clean it out to see if I can get it working. Thanks in advance.

LOL this is the first thing I changed when I purchased my 911, sniff, sniff. Pull it straight back from the rubber mounts, being carful not to rip them (Pelican has these) remove the plug and washer fluid tubes. Clamp off the tubes to prevent drainage. Also, this was my first purchase from Pelican, sniff, sniff. But after looking at the pump, i took it apart and all that stopped it was corrosion around the pump veins. A quick cleaning brought back the pump to all it's glory. So, the new pump was the first item I returned to Pelican, sniff, sniff. The rubber mounts have long tabs on them so you put them through the hole and pull them into position. Very hard to push them into the holes.

DO NOT pull the washer pump straight back toward the passenger compartment and away from the front bulkhead!!!! You will destroy the 3 little rubber mounting bushings.. Use dish soap on the rubber mounts and then slide the pump sideways to get one side off then go the opposite direction to get the second off then go down toward the ground to get the top one off.. You could also use a small flat-blade screwdriver to try to push the rubber mounts out of the pump mounting bracket .

Gregg.

PS not to contradict James,,,But I destroyed my rubber mounting bushings by pulling straight back..just my experience..I put new ones in but what a PITA that was..

James and Gregg are both right, it's mostly luck whether or not you'll break 'em. Dish soap or silicone spray or Astroglide are a must either way.

I took a very dull phillips head screwdriver and pushed the topmost part of the bushing backwards through the hole, a little bit at a time. Did a fine job for me.

I just put hollow wall anchors in the holes, and used screws. I hated those stupid rubber plugs.

Good call on the dish soap! Came straight off with a twist and a little coaxing with flat blade screwdriver.
I took apart the impeller (brass, not plastic) and found no dirt or debris. Tested the motor- dead motor maybe I need to check the hoses for blockage in case excess load on the motor killed it.
btw the date stamp on my pump is 12.06 less than 5 yo... So much for German engineering. I'll be looking for new pump.

There is the possibility of the nozzle or check valves being blocked. My check valves would not pass any liquid when I got my car. If that is the case it is a good opportunity to pull in new tubing to replace the 29 year old stuff. Use the old tubing to pull the new into place. Really easy to do with the usual dose of patience.

Pipes and check valve all look pretty new. PO replaced the in '06. Ordered a new pump from Pelican today. AU local prices suck! 3 times PP prices. Still saved over $50 after postage using PP
