stolen Fuchs

I own a shop in Atlanta Ga, and own several porsches. Mon morning I found my 72 911, 2.7, twin plugged, crank fire, MFI and fun as hell to drive, sitting up on cinder blocks with all wheels gone. After getting to work, I recieved a call from a customer with a 71 911 in the same state. I don;t know how many other hits happend in the city but it appeared to be something organized. My wheels were polished 6x15 deep dish on the front and 7x15 on the rear, and my customer;s were 6x15. this may be local or something bigger. It seems that fuchs have gone up in value lately, so a heads up. Bob Lane

Wow, that's a bummer!

I agree on the value of Fuchs going up, and making them more attractive to thieves. I've never used wheel locks in my 25 years of 911 ownership, but I've added locks to my 7s and 9s now.

I'll keep a look out over here in Athens. I'd bump this thread as all the ATL folks are subscribed:

Would they be dumb enough to try and fence them on eBay?

In addition to wheel locks I've seen some guys etch their own numbers onto the backs of the wheels and paint over the numbers so the thieves don't see them.

Later if they get stolen it helps for identification purposes if you're lucky enough to find them for sale by some punk. Just a thought...

This sounds like a great idea.

A friend had a pair of chairs stolen off his porch (not porsche) and believes he found them but can't really prove it.

One idea is to engrave your DL number, so any LEO can readily view your picture ID and associate it with the wheels, or any other valuable parts that you have engraved. I'm getting worried about my MFI now!

I had about $20,000 worth of Fuchs, BBS Mags 9 and 11's x 15, Magnesium American Racing wheels for 911, also Mag. Datsun 510 and Corvette wheels stolen. Many were pristine concour wheels too. Maybe

Mine were scapped for the aluminum value.

Along with my 1969 Camaro SS-396.

Never found any of it....

sucs too.

Good luck on yours.

Did you have wheel locks on it? Just curious if that is good enough.....

Wheel locks can slow them down, but they'll just take a cheap socket that's "just larger" than the lug nut, hammer it over/on your locking lug nut, then easily ratchet it off...

My guess is that they are selling them for scrap... aluminium is the highest its ever been. It is a real shame that some people wont leave other peoples stuff alone!
