Unhappy piston broken or overfilled oil? in 911 SC

Hi guys, I have a question, in the garage they told me that provably I have a piston broken in my 911 SC, because I was driving 30 miles, and I had changed to the second gear, I pressed the gas pedal and the exhaust starts to through a lot white smoke, I had changed to third gear and the smoke stops, 0,5 mile later, the smoke starts again, so I stop, and the car was leaking a lot of oil and huge amount of white smoke.
It could be that a piston has broken?
I just bought the car and the leak is in a bad repaid hall in the motor.
Thanks

Let's see if we can rule out the oil overfill first. Did you just add oil? If so, what was the dipstick showing and how much did you add?

This doesn't make any sense to me..."the leak is in a bad repaid hall in the motor"

I might be saying the obvious, of course you know to check the oil when the engine is running and the oil is warm? I have met more than one new 911 owner telling me the oil level is too low when they checked, but they just pulled the dip stick on a cold engine without it running. Make sure they do a compression check and show you the results for all six cylinders before they pull the engine and tear it appart. If a piston is broken you will have no compression on the bad cylinder.

I am quite new owner, but I had measured the oil after 5 or 10 minutes running, it was the half of the tank, after I had add a quarter of liter (not a lot), and I had drive 40 miles.

The oil leaking is bad weld in the motor, the motor had a crush, and they did not repair well.

Thanks

could be broken ring, head stud, or a combination of those and oil leaking from somewhere else.

do a compression and leak down check.
clean the engine and see if you can see where it is leaking.

oil leak could be lots of places.
cylinder to block- broken stud
oil return tube
rear seal
valve covers
chain housing to cam towers
just to name a few places.

Oil is not yet up to temp after only 5 or 10 minutes; if (after you added a 1/4 liter) the oil level was 1/2 of the tank (halfway up the dipstick) it's overfilled.

I hope this is the case -- embarassing but not expensive.

Good luck.

agreed.
We all have to learn but sounds like you have not measure the oil level correctly.
the oil tank level Gage is a guide only .
After you have owned the car for a while you know what the tank level Gage means in relation to how much oil is in the system.

For now .start eng.let it idle until the temp needle moves to almost the first line on the SC Gage.
When you start the car cold the oil level Gage should be at the bottom.
when idling wait until that needle moves and gets to it's highest level.
touch the oil lines at the front cooler to make sure they are hot .then the oil is circulating through the whole system.
THEN and only then check the oil level at the dipstick with the eng running and at idle 900-1000rpm,
it it is too high you can undo the plug on the oil tank and drain a little out.

He probably meant to write. "The oil leaking is due to a bad weld in the motor, the motor had a crack, and they did not repair well".

Bad weld as in JB weld epoxy or actual welded case? If you see a "bad weld" this is bad news on an engine case IMO.

Take the oil filter apart and check for pieces of the piston. Also check the sump screen.

Let's try this in Spanish:
El motor tiene que estar caminando y arriba de 180 grados C para checar el aceite. Hazlo directamente en el tanque de aceite con la varilla que se encuentra bajo la tapa. Acuerdate que es carter seco y por eso tiene que estar caminando el motor para medir el aceite.

Thanks I will remove the fuel filter and check,
Sorry guys if I did not write clear, I am starting now to write in English about the car issues...
Yes it is true that I had asked another day, but I ask again because it was not completely clear for me after I had asked in the garage. Now we had change the oil in order to be sure that is not overfilled again. We had fill only 8 liters (8,5 Quarts), if the smoke stops I will put an other liter to see how it goes with the smoke and she if it was the overfilled or other thing.
Thanks for all your help

i know people on here dont like the oil level gauge, but if it is pegged at the top, it may be confirmation that you have over filled.

i have checked my gauge against the dip stick. when the oil is at the min mark, the neddle is at the bottom. i added on e more quart, the needle is in the middle, one more quart, the oil is at the top mark and so is the needle.

it is a noce quick check sitting at a stop light.
