tire size & brand recomendation for 15x7 & 15x9 rims

plan on running these on an SC...what size tire can someone recommend that has used what ever size they recommend...actual users please...

Going to run 15x7 on the front & 15x9 on the rear...offset will allow rim to fit...

Also, any brand preferences...I do realize that 15" tires are getting harder & harder to find, so, I hope some one has some actual 1st hand info...

The car will be used on the street & driven fairly aggressive...do not want any 1" lo profile tires that shake your teeth fillings out a/o bend a rim when you drive over a twig...

Thx in advance for your help...Bob

Here's some tires that come to mind:

225/50 and 235/50 Toyo R888.

205/55 and 225/50 in whatever you can find.

18/60 and 23/62 Michelin TB15.

You may have to consider getting tires shipped from Europe!

The R888 is a track tire. I'd be hesitant to use it on the street.
I run a few different sizes of Michelin TB 15's on my turbo. The 18/60 = 215/55/15, approx. 24" high. The 23/62 = 270/45/15, approx. 25.5 high.
They are a nice riding tire and very sticky in the dry. Not so good in the wet. My fronts, 215/55/15's were hydroplaning at 55 mph in a good rain storm, no fun.
Here is a shot of of the 270/45/15's on custom DP 9x15's. I was going to run these on the front of my turbo, but they are too tall.

Thx Scott...I will go to the local tire store & see how these sizes look...

Harold...the 23/62 tire you ran on the rear...did they rub...?? What ride height were you set to & did you run any neg camber...??
Over all, how did these tires, I presume that you ran all of these on an SC body OR a turbo flared body, work for you when pushing the car fast thru corners...??

Thx...

I never ran the 23/62's as they were intended for the fronts on the turbo. I run the 18/60 on 8x15 fronts and 26/61 on 11x15 rears, also 29/61 on 13x15 rears. The car is a '79 turbo, 400 h.p. The tires are very sticky on dry roads. It's also a very light weight tire. Go here for more info on the Michelins: GBS Catalog Michelin XAS & TB15 TB5

I put Yokohama VS ES100's on my 15x7, 15x8 wheels on my 88 Carrera. 205/55-15 and 225/50-15. I'm pretty happy with them. I use them on the street and for some autocross events. I'm not sure that the 205/55-15 is available; you might have to sub 205/60-15. 15's are a bear to find. Do you really have 15x9 wheels? You might be able to use a wider tire if you can find it. Mr. Verberg usually chimes in at this point with some sage advice.

thx guys...I am almost ready to have to make a decision as this point in the project is rapidly approaching...

I need to check out what Hoosier has to offer as I believe they have a street legal tire that may be the size that will work...

pm sent to Scott...

If Bill V and or any one else has any ideas let me know...

Thx, Bob
