Question Low oil pressure after 2 month in the garage

I purchased a '83 Cabriolet a little over a year ago, with around 55k miles. I have added about another 1k since. The car is in excellent condition in general. I never had a chance to talk to the original owner (a former TWA pilot). Unfortunately, he passed away from terminal illness soon after his wife sold me the car. Aside from a rough 2nd shifting issue, the car is a lot of fun. However, I started it today after a long (2 months) period in the garage and quite a bit of smoke came out the exhaust. I let it run idle for a few minutes (3-5). Meantime, I also noticed the pressure gage would not move pass 1-3 mark. Oil level gage show full. After another couple of minutes, I did a lap around the block. Back in my driveway, on idle, the temp started to go up (1/3 mark). The oil pressure needle would jump up with the rpm/shifting, but never past 3. The smoke dissipated gradually. Still, strong exhaust fume/smell after pulling back in the garage and turning the engine off. No oil leak/drops on the garage floor.
Any idea what could cause the smoke/low oil pressure after a couple of months sitting in the garage? Appreciate any feedback. I'm concern about driving it without knowing the severity of the symptoms.

Check the connector at the Druck Sender Unit, it may have corroded sitting for 2 months.

As she idles, carefully twist the top to create a better contact. Becareful here the solder is really weak due to all the years of heat.

A helper would be useful here as you check the connection, watch the fan belt for safety.

Smoke is normal after sitting that long......Oil seeps from tank to sump, weeps past rings and can even get into muffler.......No worries, due to engine design...

Thank you both for your quick response.

I had a chance to pull the car out for quick test run around the neighborhood this evening. Everything is back to normal: no smoke, cool temp, oil pressure ok ...life is good again!

Great site! Thx again!
