Well get well soon. Hopefully it won't be as bad as you think. You can always shift with the cast on. Just a bit slower. It is a 915 after all. No need to hurry.

You can come back next year and retake the club championship.

wait until you have the stitches, the cast and a week of healing before you write off driving. . .

It's pretty painful to work a clutch immediately after major knee surgery, but after a week of rehab and healing, I was able to clench my teeth and start driving myself to and from the physical therapist.

Oh, and when my skiing buddies get their wrists put into a cast, they take a ski pole in for the doc to shape the cast around the grip so they can hold their poles. Maybe you should take in your shifter!!!!

Worth a try!

Good luck

if my tendon is severed they will put me in a cast that will force my hand in an upright position i doubt there will be any way to grab shifter....i know its not the end of the world but i am probly one of the most active people out there and this is the worst time of the year for this to happen..this is the first time i have ever broken anything

That does suck. My advice (as an avid golfer - and shifter! - who had rotator cuff surgery) is to take the rehab seriously (read: slowly) and not push it so that you can be 100% when you get back in the game. Best wishes.

Damn, worse than I thought.

Hope the tendon is still hanging tough, and it's just a deep bastard.

Very sorry indeed to hear about your injury. Sure hope yer doc can bolt it all togther. But, uh, not being able to extend your middle finger? That makes it doubly bad. Isn't that, like, a major communication tool?

Seriously, I empathize. I'm a banjo picker and am incredibly fearful of doing something awful to my hands and fangers (we banjo pickers don't have "fingers," we have "fangers." And yes, I have done exactly that, right down to trimming the ends off several of my digits. Worst was the left thumb, so I'm still good to go for that wonderful, joyful, bluegrass noise.

It might not be so bad for the golf either. If you are RH your left hand is way more important than your right hand.

I'm a lefty and broke my left wrist real bad and had to have a 5 inch rod and some screws "installed" and after the rehab my swing changed very little.

Hope it works as well for you.

Good luck with the recovery.

I broke my right foot a few years ago. If the freakin' cast would have fit between the 911 pedals I would have driven it.

Justin, sorry to hear about your injury. That thing kinda sucks. Just don't do what my cousin did when he broke or otherwise injured something in his wrist playing ball...

He had some kind of soft cast or a formed brace and a wrap or something similar. Anyway, when he went in to see the doc for his check up for his wrist: Doc - "Uh, where's your cast?", Cousin - "Oh, I left it out in the truck..." He started to take things SLIGHTLY more seriously when the doc threatened to put him in a hard cast. My cous is pretty active and hated having his wrist immobilized. He was complaining that his rotational movement was severely impaired and demonstrated his lack of range, less than a week after his accident. Still, with no cast...

Sorry to hear this Justin.
Way back in high school I partially severed the tendon of my ring finger, right where a wedding band sits. Was in a cast that bent my wrist back at 90* and left only my thumb and index finger even remotely useable. It took a good week before I could flex my wrist straight after being in the cast 6 weeks.
Good luck with the recovery.

Oh, I do have an auto-stick of sorts but it's due to go back in the car sometime this week.

Hope you heal fast. I got thrown from a horse and broke 3 lower vertebrae's 2 weeks ago. I finally tried to drive my 911 yesterday but the pain was just too much. SO she sits patiently and waits.

I hope your hand comes back close to what it was. At least you are skilled enough to figure out how to compensate for wrist movement differences.

How long before they allow you to swing? Cripes, the cast does not even come off till August.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Bummer, sorry to hear aboout the injury. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

As an avid golfer myself, (I need 1 a side from you) that does suck that you won't be able to golf AND defend your Club Championship. As a 6, I had a snowball's chance in hell to win our Club Championship as there's a group of guys at our club that always shot under par. You must have had it going and went low during the club championship!

On a lighter note, I guess it will be a few weeks before you can do this with your injured hand:
