speaker removal

OK. I have searched and not found. I have looked through the books I recently purchased. How do you remove the stupid speakers. I have 6.5 in rear and 5.25 in door (83 cabriolet). I am afraid to pry the grills to hard, just in case something is different. They are JB Audio units.

I assume you mean you have JB Audio units in you car and you want to remove and replace them.

I don't know about JB, but I just replaced all the factory Blaupunkt speakers in my '87 Carrera and each one was held in by 4 phillips-head sheet-metal screws which were plainly visible and accessible. If you don't see screw heads on your speaker grills, I would guess the grills just snap on and the screws are hidden beneath.

However, don't send me the bill if there is something more sinister at play here.

I have Boston Acoustics in the doors, and the grilles come off by twistin and then pulling. There are tabs that seat into the speakers.

They are sure tight on the there. I will try twist and then pull maybe. Never had any like that before. Just seem awful tight!

Are you unhappy with The Quart or are they blown? Grill should pull out with firm pressure. Phillip head screws will be exposed underneath. If the speakers are not blown Quart makes a nice driver.

Yeah, I am afraid I am going to pull the backer in the door when I tug at it. Not sure if satisified. As they stand, with the 35x4 deck, no I am not staisified. But they may need an amp for proper sound. (static when too loud now). I have an amp on the way and will try that. But I also have a set of Infinity Kappa's to replace all of the quart's.

How do I remove the factory speaker on my 91 Carrera 2? I got the tweeter out but I could not get the 5.25" speaker out. Any help is appreciated.
