930 ignition distributor rebuild

I have a 930 that decided it didn't want to drive anymore one morning on the way to work.
I have posted on the turbo sub-forum about the story.

Some of the suggestions points towards the IGN DIST.

Car stumbled to a hault and I was told the exhaust was glowing red.

I took off the cap yesterday. It seems that the rotor was stuck all the way clockwise (CW). When I turned it by hand it suddenly snapped CCW. Now when I try to make it turn by hand, no brute force just gently. It doesn't feel right, and I think theres slack in the bearings. This is backed up by the fact that I find small chips inside the cap. I guess the rotor scrapes on the sides.
The rotor and cap is brand new.

Finally to my question: I know of Jerry Woods (from research here on PP) that can rebuild the DIST, but that is al the way in Ca, anybody know a shop closer to AL?

The local guys (V8) laughs at me and tells me to go EFI, but I'd like to stick with CIS - for now.

Thanks
